DAY 2 CAÑAZA: TREE HOUSE
Day two is where the Osa Peninsula did what it always
does for us: reminded us that you don’t have to go far to see
something extraordinary — you just have to be awake and
paying attention when it happens. We kept things close to
home on this day. |e location was literally our home turf:
our property in Cañaza, centered around the tree house we
built. |at setting matters, because it shivs the psychology
of the day. When you’re at an eco-lodge or a national park,
you’re a visitor and you expect to be shown things. When
you’re on your own property, you’re not exactly a visitor
anymore — you’re a resident observer living inside patterns
you’ve watched repeat for years.

a sunrise over our home in Canaza.
|at’s the giv and the trap of wildlife at home. |e giv is
familiarity: we know where the fruiting trees are, where
certain birds like to perch, where the monkeys will likely
cross the canopy. |e trap is thinking that familiarity makes
things predictable. It doesn’t.
