Parrots in flight.
Matapalo, true to form, had given us everything it had. By late avernoon, we onally reached the car, utterly exhausted both physically and mentally. We’d
been bombarded by wildlife from every angle for hours on end. Frankly, it was overwhelming — even for us, who crave this stuf. We sat in the car with the
AC on for a minute, just to cool down and collect ourselves. It was a happy sort of overwhelm, but it was still a lot to process.
Day 5 Highlights: Cabo Matapalo’s wildlife extravaganza. Four species of monkeys (howler, spider, squirrel, capuchin) in a single morning; scarlet macaws
mating and staging to nest; a rare northern tamandua (anteater); sightings of a trogon, a screech owl, black hawk and Fer de Lance and abundant parrots. A
true wildlife overload that tested our stamina and preparation.
